Sterna forsteri
Length: 12.5-14"

The Forster's Tern is more commonly seen in spring/summer the S.F. Bay Area.
They are more common than any other Tern.
In their breeding plumage they have a black cap which becomes more
of an thick eye-ring after breeding season.
One of my favorite sites is seeing them hovering over the Bay and than
diving in to catch a fish.
