Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, CA.

The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is in Southern California near Joshua Tree
National Park.
It is considered an important birding site.

While I was there in mid-February, I saw many birds including:
Ladder-backed Woodpeckers, California Thrasher, White-breasted Nuthatch,
Oak Titmouse, Cactus Wren, Bushtits, Bewick's Wren, Verdin, Anna's Hummingbird, Goldfinches, House Finches, Northern Mockingbird, etc.
It is a great place to stop on the way to the northern entrance to Joshua Tree.
