We visited Bolivar Peninsula five months after Hurricane Ike on Sep. 11, 2008
and the devastation was very evident.
As some of the pictures show, there was not much was left.
A lot of the places we were going to visit east of Galveston were closed
and other places had far less birds than normal.
A year and a half later and the change was dramatic. A lot had been rebuilt and
we saw plenty of birds.

We stopped a few times along the coast.
I saw Sandwich Terns, Royal Terns, Ruddy Turnstones, and quite a few gulls.
Next time, I will spend more time along the coast.
