The Tricolored Parrotfinch is known by a variety of names including: Forbes Parrotfinch, Sunda Parrotfinch, Tanimbar Parrotfinch, Timor Parrotfinch, Blue-breasted Parrotfinch Three-colored Parrot Finch. They are found in Indonesia and East Timor in subtropical or tropical forests, forest edges, grasslands, dry savannas, and farmlands.

Diet includes seeds (especially grass seeds) and insects.
