Bucephala clangula Length: 16-20"

The Common Goldeneye seems to be more common in the Bay Area than the Barrow's Goldeneye. Both species are very similar, but the male Common Goldeneye has more of an oval white spot under its eye instead of the crescent found on male Barrow's Goldeneyes. Like the Barrow's they eat aquatic insects, crustaceans, fish, fish eggs, and aquatic plants.
