The Common Murre is the largest living alcid. They inhabit both North American coasts. We are lucky that sometimes we can see them in the Bay Area.

Common Murres are fast but not very agile. They are more agile underwater and can dive to depths of 100-200 feet. They don't make nests but incubate their incubate their single egg on bare rock.
