The Hawaiian Duck or koloa maoli in Hawaiian, is an endangered duck in Hawaii. They can interbreed with Mallards and are probably a subspecies. They are mostly found in Kauai, which is where I saw these birds. I thought they were Hawaiian Ducks because of the color of their beaks. Female Mallards have more orange.
