Carduelis psaltria Length: 4-4.5"

The Lesser Goldfinch is not as common in the U.S. as the American Goldfinch. It is seen frequently in the Bay Area. It is found mostly in the west and southwest of the U.S. into Mexico. The male has a black had and the underparts are yellow. The back is a yellowish green.

The Lesser Goldfinches in our neighborhood love Sunflower seeds.
