The Purple Gallinule is a swamp hen in the rail family. They are found mainly in the south, mostly along the coasts. I saw the one below in the Everglades.

They are omnivorous and eat seeds, leaves, fruits, insects, frogs, snails, spider, earthworms, fish, etc.
