Rissa brevirostris Length: 15"

The Red-legged Kittiwake is not a widespread bird and its population is small and decreasing. They are found only in the subarctic Pacific. The only reason I saw them was that there were some in the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward (a great place to visit). They nests on vertical sea cliffs, mostly on Alaska's Pribilof Island. They feed mainly on small fish, squid, and marine zooplankton.
