The Redhead duck is a diving duck and is an uncommon bird for the Bay Area. I have only seen one female at Lake Merritt in Oakland. Redheads are a diving duck and breed in marshes and prairie potholes. They mainly eat aquatic plants with some molluscs, aquatic insects and small plants.
