Porzana carolina Length: 8.75"

It took me a while to both see and get some pictures of a Sora. The best time to see them is at very high tide at the Martin Luther Regional Park, Oakland, CA.

Soras mostly eat seeds and plants. They will sometimes eat insects and aquatic invertebrates. The sexes are similar and there is only a little variation between breeding and non-breeding Soras. Note the very long toes.
