The Summer Tanager was formerly placed in the tanager family and is now classified with other members of its genus in the cardinal family. Summer Tanagers are mostly found in the southern U.S. and parts of Mexico. The males are bright red during breeding season and the females are yellow-brown. They mainly eat insects, especially bees and wasps. They also eat berries.
