Mycteria americana Length: 33-45"

The Wood Stork is a very large wading bird and is the only stork found in the United States. They are found in the southeast and, the Everglades seem a great place to find them. To me, their head has a slightly prehistoric look to them.

The Wood Stork eats mostly fish but will also eat frogs and large insects. It catches fish by holding its bill open in the water until a fish is detected. Their IUCN conservation status is 'Least Concern'.
