The Brown Pelican is the smallest of the pelicans. They are found in North America and the northern edge of South America. They dive for fish. Both sexes look similar.
One of my favorite memories is late summer at Middle Harbor Park in Oakland. It was a windy day and the Brown Pelicans looked like they were playing in the water by doing somersaults as they landed.
