Hawaiian Moorhen - Gallinula chloropus sandvicensis

A subspecies of the Common Moorhen, the Hawaiian Moorhen or 'Alae "Ula can be found on Kaua'i and O'ahu. According to Hawaiian mythology, a moorhen brought fire to Humans, which explains the red on its forehead.
