The Superb Bird-of-paradise is found in the rainforests of New Guinea. The male is mostly black with an iridescent green crown, blue-green breast shield and a long black erectile cape covering his back. The female upperparts are mostly brownish to brownish-red and the underparts are barred brown and cream.
Diet includes fruit, insects, and spiders.
