(feet)The Broad-winged Hawk breeds in the Eastern half of the U.S. and winters in southern Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. They are one of the few birds of prey that migrate in large flocks or "kettles". The kettles can number in the tens of thousands. Broad-winged Hawks eat amphibians, insects, mammals and juvenile birds.
