The Black-billed Magpie is part of the crow family and is found throughout western North America. While I have never seen them in the S.F. Bay Area, I found quite a few of them in Alaska and Utah. I have also seen them in Santa Fe.

The Black-billed Magpie is very similar to California's Yellow-billed Magpie. They eat most anything. For example, they will eat insects, carrion, eggs, rodents, berries, seeds and nuts. They will also eat garbage and pet food.
