The Swainson's Hawk is a slender hawk the breed in western North America and winter in southern South America. When they migrate south, they can congregate into flocks up to thousands of birds.
During the breeding season they eat mammals, bird and reptiles. During the rest of the year they eat insects, especially grasshoppers and dragonflies.
