The Horned Lark is widespread. The populations that breed in the northern latitudes of Alaska, Europe and Asia will migrate to central North America, Europe and Asia. Resident populations are also found in central and southern North America, central Europe, central Asia, northern Africa and northern South America.
Forty-two subspecies of the Horned Lark are recognized. Diet includes invertebrates and plant material.
