The Salmon-crested Cockatoo is also known as the Moluccan Cockatoo. They are endemic to south Moluccas in eastern Indonesia. The female is larger than the male. They are intelligent and are good mimics. Their diet consists mainly of seeds, nuts, fruit and insects.

The capture of wild cockatoos for pets has threatened this bird. They are listed on the Wild Bird Conservation Act and cannot be imported into the U.S.
