The Long-billed Curlew is the largest shorebird in North America. It breeds in the western U.S. and Canada and winters along the North American coast and Mexico to Central America. It is easily recognizable because of its size and its long decurved bill. The long bill is used to probe mud foraging for crabs, worms and other small invertebrates. They also eat grasshoppers, beetles and other insects.
