The Long-toed Lapwing is an African bird that if found in most of central Africa. They are large plover that are found on or near floating vegetation in swamps, ox-box lakes, floodplains and dams.
They use their long toes to walk on floating vegetation and mud to search for aquatic insects (e.g., dragonfly numphs, beetles, ants and small snails) and occasionally seeds.
