The Wandering Tattler breed in Alaska, far-eastern Russia, and northwestern Canada where they nest in rocky areas along mountain streams. They winter in the southwest Pacific from California to South America and as far away as Australia. They eat insects, crustaceans, worms, and small animals that live among the rocks.
