Wilson's Phalaropes are mostly found on fresh water breeds in North America and winters near the Andes in Argentina. They eat aquatic insects and small crustaceans in fresh water and shrimp and brine flies in salt water. They pick small bits of food from the water's surface. Sometimes they will spin in tight circles to create upwellings of food although they do this less than other Phalaropes.
