The Plain Chachalaca is a large bird that is found from th Rio Grande Valley in southernmost Texas to northernmost Costa Rica. Both sexes are similar. They are mostly shades of brown with a red gular-stripe. Diet is a primarily fruit but will eat some vegetations and invertebrates such as small snails, caterpillars, etc.
