The Inca Tern is found on the coasts of Peru and Chile and is restricted to the Humboldt Current. Both sexes are similar and the adult is mostly slate-gray with white on the facial plumes and the edges of the wings. The bill and legs are dark red. Immature birds are purple-brown.
They primarily eat small fish such as anchovies by diving into the water and grabbing the fish.
