Tilden Regional Park

Tilden Regional Park

Tilden Regional Park is one of the three oldest East Bay Parks. It is 2,079 acres and it is in the hills above Berkeley, CA. They are many trails and places to bird. Some of my favorite places are:

Tilden Botanic Garden

The Tilden Botanic Garden is located in the Tilden Regional Park. It is a good place for songbirds. I have seen a variety of songbirds including Palm Warbler, Spotted Towhee, Wilson's Warbler, Oregon Junco, Black Phoebe. I have also seen Anna's Hummingbirds, Hermit Thrushes and Acorn Woodpeckers.

Jewel Lake

Jewel Lake and the short walk to it, is a good birding location. You can see a variety of ducks, grebes, mergansers, cormorants on the lake and song birds on the paths. Sometimes a rarity will visit the area while on migration.
